Wakefield Exhibition Nov 16/17/18

Postby Enigma » Fri Oct 12, 2018 4:34 pm

This year's show is our 50th and will be held at the Sports Centre, Horbury Rd. as usual. There are 2 P4 layouts, 'Halifax King Cross' and 'Mostyn' along with 'Copenhagen Fields' and 'Wansbeck' in 2mm finescale. A good selection of other layouts in a variety of scales is also included. Entrance is £7.00 which by today's standards is still competitive given the quality of the layouts and traders on show.

It is always a great show, P4 or not. I try to get there every year. Hopefully, Northern staff won't extend their rail strikes and upset your attendance figures.

I'd love to go but since they changed their date they now clash with Workington MRE. Never mind Bob Hetherington will be doing a Scalefour demonstration of something Stockton & Darlington and there will be some nice layouts to see as well.

The process of getting Mostyn ready for this show is now complete. A good deal of cleaning, adjustment and general maintenance has the "Beastie" ready to do its bit for P4 once more.
A good deal of new stock has been added and a number of rakes have been totally reordered, tested and run in.
The Barrowmore Crew look forward to a grand time in sunny Wakefield... :thumb

Well done to the P4 layouts (and all the others) at Wakefield today. A really excellent show - well worth making the effort to go and see if you possibly can !

To inform members that Mostyn managed to win the "Best Layout in Show" award - humbling and yet it shows all the hardwork is worth it.
And to think that the concept for Mostyn as it is now, was first conceived in Wakefield some eighteen years ago.
I think the "Lads" had grand time and trust that the show was successful. It deserved to be as it was a very high quality one :thumb

I think it was! Lots of praise for the show (on RMWeb at least!) and Mostyn (hopefully!) proved to the non-believers that P4 does go round corners, doesn't always fall of and can run scale length trains at scale speeds.

However, I did see a SPAD.............

The 2019 Wakefield RMS Exhibition is this weekend and we'll be flying the P4 flag with Birmingham Moor Street. Do come and say hello :D

PS. I know there are a lot of shows in Wakefield but how come this year's show is the 58th if 2018's was the 50th?!
