It seems that there is either a problem to be solved or a rumour to be scotched?

I still have no idea what is going on.
David Britten, the outgoing NLG Sec., sent a pretty unhappy round-robin letter pointing out the deficiencies as he saw them, plus the way he felt certain people had gone behind his back during the time he was serving as Secretary, and the status or otherwise of the Society AGM venue which, according to his letter, had not been booked. He has severed his links with NLG and I think he has left the Society as well.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

I can't comment on the affairs of the NLG, but David has not resigned, he is a paid up member of the Scalefour Society.

Re: Scalefour Society AGM, 17 June 2017
I would like to clarify the situation regarding the Society AGM.
I have been in contact with Tony Sheffield, the North London Group Chairman, and he has confirmed that the venue for the AGM has been booked. Therefore, the arrangements, as posted by Russ on 29th April are current.
I hope to see as many of you as possible on the day and am looking forward to a good day's entertainment.
I trust that this scotches any rumours and suitably untwists knickers!
John.

Apologies for not attending from me. Our village is holding a picnic as part of the Great Get Together in memory of Jo Cox, the MP who was tragically killed just before the referendum last year, and that's where I shall be.
I hope the meeting goes well and wish all attending a happy day because there just aren't enough of those at present.

I was looking at the public transport option for getting to the AGM. Please can someone confirm whether or not you can you use an Oyster card on the Number 10 bus from Watford station?
many thanks

I don't think so.
The Number 10 times are showing a frequency of about every 12 minutes on a Saturday:

It appears not. Arriva certainly don't mention acceptability of Oysters on their webpage for Route 10, possibly because it doesn't serve a TfL area.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Thanks Ivan
I finally found a TFL map for Watford and it looks like the TFL buses get to the town but terminate.

From a quick search, there appear to be just two TfL routes to Watford, the 142 and 258.
Somewhat OT, I often see TfL buses commuting on the M1 between North Watford (where they are stabled and serviced) and their actual routes in London.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

I had hoped to get there this year, but after the drive back from Plymouth to London the day before taking 8½ hours rather than the usual 4½, in that heat with a malfunctioning air-con, there was no way I could surface in time! Stationary on the fast lanes of the A38, M5, M4, M25, and the slow lane of the M11, I claim a record... But don't thread this please..

Re: Scalefour Society AGM, 17 June 2017
The AGM was a very good event and it was a joy to stand and watch Bodmin, the bells, the smooth, QUIET running of all the stock, not just the locomotives, no echoing noise from the baseboard. I then had the opportunity to observe from the other side and noticed the markings on the stock to help the operators. I had to smile, but the markings must obviously help the operators put together a pleasing and entertaining regime.

No they don't. I still managed to send out the wrong number of wagons, and the other end still managed to send me the wrong engine....

As it turned out, one of the reasons why I felt so shattered was that I had contracted Parvovirus b19 from a Grandson, and would have been unaware and at a most infectious stage on Saturday. It's relatively mild for a healthy person, but can be dangerous for some with certain conditions. Nearly recovered now. Worth checking out if you have contact with any pre-teens.

I know Ivan. I was watching from the front. Brian Pearce was making comments about too many wagons in the goods shed road, I think your got a bit of gentle leg pulling as a result?
