Thank you Tim. I suppose, as someone has said elsewhere, even I could have started a 2017 S4N thread - but is this really up to the 'general' membership to do? This is a very important event for the society and my opinion, I would have thought that the people involved would have started one some time ago. It won't disappear if it gets bumped regularly.

That's an excellent albeit wallet-draining line up of traders, very close to one-stop shopping. I am looking forward to my trip to Wakefield!

It was beginning to annoy me that no-one was picking up the cudgel. However, anyone could have started a thread. So I did it.

So whose going?

The Bristol contingent are in a state of confusion. The usual pub and curry house we go to are both closed

However, there is an exhibition to go to, so we are still coming - and a new pub/curry house has been found

Are you sure the pub is actually closed? From what I can tell, the Bull and Fairhouse has reverted to its 19th Century name of O'Donoghue's. Anyhow, my travel and hotel plans are laid.

I will be there both days and will be staying in yet another new place. Goodness, they fill quickly.

I'm going, and I know that several other members of the North East Scotland groiup will also be there. I always book well in adance and treat myself to first class rail travel (surprisingly inexpensive, especially with a railcard). I combine S4 North with visits to friends in Notts, and thanks to Virgin East Coast's very liberal policy of providing free alcohol to first class passengers at frequent intervals during the journey, I may well get off the train at Newark slightly sozzled. I'll be sober for the show though!

As a local I've been told it is shut. The O'Donoghue's name is possibly the one used before it became the B & F and it appears over the door - with the B & F name on the wall above. The Bengal curry house around the corner is still very much open. I thought this is the one you use?

I'm aiming to be there again. Really enjoyed it last year.

Bull and Fairhouse origins are 19th century and was so named in view of a nearby cattle market and a fairground around the corner.. it was for a time an Irish theme pub called O'donohues. Sadly it does appear to be closed although there are nearby alternatives for a decent pint or three!

The curry house of choice for the Bristol contingent over the years was the Bollywood Lounge which also appears to be now closed.

Is this an anti Bristol ploy!

As Enigma says the Bengal Palace is just up the road and there are good reports.

I'm still working on a full website update for Scalefour North for later this week, but I have been able to upload the show guide (PDF). Members will have a version already with Scalefour News, but non members can download this copy, and I understand James makes more of the text link elsewhere for this web version.

I have downloaded it on my ipad as I am always reluctant to take the relevant copy of Snooze travelling to Wakefield.

I've completed the update to the site to feature Scalefour North on the homepage, and also list the details on its page, rather than just in the PDF guide. There are one or two more details to come (notably bring & buy forms), and I'll post those over the coming days.

I've just updated the show page, and it now lists the Bring & Buy Forms you need if you want to sell some secondhand goods at the show.

Not convinced by the postcode for the school given on the show page which doesn't appear to exist, and doesn't match the one in the guide (WF1 3QX) which works.

Whoops! Thanks Will, now fixed. Looked like a typo of mine.

Fervour for this show seems to be on the back-burner this year. I, for one, am rather looking forward to both the show and catching up with people after a rather dreary winter.

I too am looking forward to it. Last year's show convinced me that joining the society was the right move and I've not regretted it

It is a bit of a trek, but I am going instead of going to a show like ally pally this year, weirdly it seems to work out cheaper despite the extra distance to drive and hotel (shared costs).

You will be able to renew your membership, if you haven't already done so of course, at the Society Stand at Scalefour North this coming weekend.

If you arrive at Scalefour North without your new membership card, or are still to renew, don't panic as there will be a list of members, including those who are still to renew, available for the stewards at the ticket desk.

It looks like it's going to be a another great weekend and I look forward to seeing many of you there.

I've renewed via Direct Debit

My new membership card hasn't arrived in the post yet (assuming it is on the way), so good to know there'll be a list on the desk
