Will try to get along. Sounds a good day. Will see nearer time though as too far off to know for sure (even next month is for me!)
Re: DEFine Modellers Day January 2017
In addition to the previous announcement we have added one more layout, and this will be "Underhill Exchange" by Dave Roome.
We have also added two more demos. There will be an "Extreme Etchings Workshop" with Brian Hanson. This is an opportunity to talk with Brian on your EE/Shawplan products projects and get some advice.
We also have Dave Furmage attending and Dave will be available to discuss wagons and locos, modifying, P4 conversions etc.

Good luck with today's DEFine event.
There is an error in Scalefour News No. 200 regarding the date the Modellers' Day is being held (Trailing Points, page 47). The event has been listed as taking place on 17th January 2017, a Tuesday, when it is most definitely being held today, Saturday 14th January 2017. Sincere apologies to all members and organizers.

Re: DEFine Modellers Day January 2017
An excellent event yesterday with much high quality modelling evident in mainly in P4 but including other scales and gauges as well. Some superb modelling of various types of cranes used by the civil engineers department caught my eye. Many productive conversations amongst like minded people and sometimes we even talked about railways.
The organisers are to be congratulated in putting on the event and taking a financial risk in staging it - hire of the venue and insurance being just two of the costs. There have been similar small D&E focussed events in the past and no doubt these will continue but there is no reason why other groups should not do the same thing or widen the scope to include modelling the steam era as well.

Re: DEFine Modellers Day January 2017
Many thanks to all the Scalefour Society members (special mention to all our Nottingham AG members) who attended our DEFine Modellers Day, and a second special mention to those who gave up their time to provide layouts and do demos. We started out with an idea to host a modelling day and provide a forum for fellow modellers to come and talk and watch some of not only what DEFine members are working on, but also to engage in watching some quality layouts and demos and being able to access help and advice from fellow modellers. We had a healthy number through the door for our first event and all day the hall was buzzing with the noise of modellers engaging with each other and that is what we had hoped would happen.
The day turned out to have a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the "quality" of the guests who attended meant we had many of the key players in the D&E scene present throughout the day. It was great to see Gareth Bayer there, our longest travelled attendee by far, as well as Chris Messer who with the help of Dave Roome managed to spend over an hour in our company. That was great to see.
As to doing it again, we are certainly encouraged by all the positive comments we have received personally and on various forums. We will be considering it and let everyone know the plans for 2018.
Thanks again to everyone that participated and attended.
