Clutton @ Clutton 10th September

Postby Tim V » Thu Aug 25, 2016 6:23 pm

Clutton (the layout) will be visiting Clutton (the village) and appearing in the youth club, which is actually on the station site. 10th of September.

This coincides with the grand opening of the park on the station site.

This will probably be the last time the layout goes to the station, it was last there over 10 years ago.

Clutton is about eight miles south of Bristol, and can be reached using the same bus as whisked you to Railwells. Get off in the village and walk down Station Rd (what else!).

Bother! Anne and I are at Goodwood that day. If not, we're only about three miles away, so it would have been excellent to come along.

I hope that you have a fantastic day.

I have been helping Tim out with Clutton at Clutton.
Now I know Clutton is in the deepest primeval Somerset, but.........
Image
Duck meets Dinosaur!
I apologise for the quality of picture as I only had my works phone with me.
Needles to say Duck scuttled off to safety leaving the dinosaur to terrorise the cattle in the field.

The dinosaur attracted a lot of attention with our younger visitors.

!

Seeing a Hornby Duck converted to P4 is a surprise I must say!
Ages ago I converted a Bachmann 5700 into it with the correct Railway Series number of 5741 viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2765 although those sand boxes need replacing. Just lumps of balsa wood. :?

Are those old Hornby chassis easy to convert? I ask as I have a couple but am not sure if it is worth it. Aesthetics aside some run well but some don't.

Hi Knuckles,

I think Duck is running with an old brass chassis.

No doubt Tim will correct me if I am wrong.

If that is the case then it would make much sense and the surprise of seeing ol' Monty in P4 would be diminished...although not completely killed off.

Duck is running on a retired front line chassis, originally under a Bachmann body. The Hornby body was a spare from East Kent Models.

Duck has a split frame compensated chassis, with a lot of miles on it.

Sweet, many thanks for the info.

I really must try these split frames sometimes I keep reading about.

I'm wondering if the extra work with shortening strips is offset by the lack of pickups.
