THE EPSOM SHOW 2016 - 23rd & 24th April

Postby PDS » Fri Apr 08, 2016 10:30 am

As I write this this year's EPSOM SHOW is in just two weeks time!

Unfortunately since details were sent for publication in Scalefour News (Exhibition Diary) we have had a number of layout cancellations, one of which regrettably is 'Longwood Edge'. The good news is that excellent replacements have been invited and the show will now include the following P4 layouts:

ST MERRYN - The South London Area Groups 'magnum opus' rendition of an ex-LSWR terminus station on the north Cornwall coast. Set in 1954, a period when the British summer holiday to west-country resorts was at its peak bringing additional and extended train services to this otherwise relatively quiet and peaceful jewel of 'Betjeman Land'.

WATERLOO STREET- James Dickie's representation of an ex-Great North of Scotland Railway goods yard in the Aberdeen area in the late 1970s. After a period of gradual decline the developing North Sea oil industry has brought a resurgence in traffic levels resulting in a much higher level of activities in and out of the yard.

EPSOM - After its showing at Scaleforum in 2014 Bob Cummings has continued to develop the existing Epsom Station area circa 1929, and it is this section (not the full working layout) that he will be bringing to Epsom! Bob will be on hand to discuss his research and modelling methods.

Additionally - for those who were unable to attend the recent '101 Not Out' event we are pleased to announce that Grant Alderson & Pete Warren will be in attendance once more demonstrating some of the innovative techniques they have employed in the development of the Twickenham & District MRCs 'Addison Road' layout. One system is Google's SketchUp CAD program (as mentioned in Scalefour News 196) which can be used to produce a dimensioned drawing from a perspective photograph.

There have been a couple of changes to the Traders: Wealistic Models have had to withdraw, but we now have Model Railway Developments.

We start setting up this afternoon and evening.

Cheers,

Dave

Here's St Merryn, perhaps a view that's less familiar:
