RAILEX 2016
Advance notice of next years RAILEX as can be seen currently there will be four P4 layouts in attendance, last years show was 7mm heavy but RAILEX 2016 is more weighted to 4mm
As well as the P4 element there will be Geoff Williams iconic EM model of Aylesbury LNWR, this will be the only chance to see this layout exhibited as it was built in Geoff' loft and was never intended to taken out, so as well as being heavy and delicate it is not really suited to being transported too many times.

Re: RAILEX 2016
The RAILEX 2016 website has now gone live http://www.railex.org.uk/ If you visited Scalefourum but not RAILEX it is at the same venue and has the same emphasis on finescale modelling although covering different scales rather than just 4mm P4, in fact many of the traders that attend Scalefourum also attend RAILEX

Re: RAILEX 2016
As in previous years we will have our vintage bus running from the railway station car park to RAILEX and return on both Saturday and Sunday, on the bus you will be able to purchase RAILEX tickets and programmes.
We also now have a RAILEX page on Facebook.

Re: RAILEX 2016
Railex is this weekend, we have four P4 layouts this year, two EM and only one OO! although the show does have all the specialist traders you need.
We expect Saturday to be very busy and Sunday tends to be quieter so maybe if you plan to come along consider a Sunday visit.
Our free vintage bus service is now published on the website www.railex.org.uk, unlike Scaleforum our bus will depart from the Aylesbury railway station car park rather than the front of the station.
Railex will be the only time to see the late Geoff Williams model EM model of Aylesbury LNWR station the last chance to see Wibdenshaw.

The report of Clutton's retirement are greatly exaggerated (from the Railex spread in the MRJ).
Clutton will be retiring in 2018.

Sorry Tim, my cock up, for some reason I had in my head it was Clutton last year.
Quainton Road Models have had to withdraw from Railex due to personal reasons.

Health problems prevent me from attending this year, but there will be a significant Welsh presence on Sunday. Looks to be an absolutely fabulous show - as it always is. Have a great time and spend too much money with the traders!

Get well soon Mike.
A moderate sized DRAG flotilla will be there tomorrow, looking forward to it. I actually have an organised shopping list this year.

Great show and rounded off superbly by the loose shunting on Clutton in the dying moments. Excellent !!

Re: RAILEX 2016
Another Railex over and it was rather busy both days, we may have had our biggest attendance ever, I think Danny signed up five new members to the society as well.
Thanks for Iain Rice for judging and everyone else who helped or just visited.

Re: RAILEX 2016
A terrific weekend David, great show, great atmosphere, thanks to you and the Risborough & District MRC.
Five new members it was, equalling our best ever recruitment at Railex, so go to go out on a high.
Not P4 of course, but a lovely big bit of shapely metal.
All the Best

Re: RAILEX 2016
And as I've mentioned in a different topic, enormous thanks to Tim and Robin for allowing my tram loco and coffee pot to stretch their legs on Clutton and Rolvenden, respectively.
I'm personally amazed that they ran so well, given that they normally do little more than shuffle back and forth on a metre-long test track at the moment.
Until next time...

Oh, and not forgetting thanks to Nigel and Coldfair Green for both checking my locos on Sunday morning to make sure that they would run after I'd been messing about with the DC setting on the DCC chip (yes, that's not a typo) and providing proper Great Eastern territory photo opportunities on Sunday afternoon.
Cheers

Re: RAILEX 2016
I have just had the final numbers for the show, they need a few tweaks regarding the number of families but it looks like we got to 3000 visitors, plus there was probably another 200 maybe 300 people in the hall either club members layout crews or traders.

Re: RAILEX 2016
Went along on the Sunday. Had a good time there, and enjoyed it. Took the opportunity to join the society at the show too after having decided to do so after the Wakefield show in April.
Thanks for a great show, look forward to returning next year if time permits.
Came away with a few items I'd been after, and a few other items I hadn't intended to buy, but couldn't pass up.

I was a little amazed at how quickly the coffee pot moved! My little black hawthorn certainly doesn't have that turn of speed!

I think that was cranking it up rather! It's normally much more sedate.
I've yet to do any adjusting of the settings in the chip on the loco. When I do, I'll be having a good look at the top speed, and I'll add just a touch of inertia to it, to make things interesting.
But I was genuinely surprised that it coped so well with the trackwork. That's not a criticism of Tim's track in any way - just that it's the first time that it has run through complex pointwork at speed.
The next thing to finish is my split-frame Buckjumper, and I'll see how that goes. Although I need to finish rebuilding my test track first...
Cheers

Re: RAILEX 2016
Sadly I didn't make it to Railex, roughly a 2 hour drive I think. I was going to go on the Sunday hoping to see a few of you, Clutton and the only showing of Aylesbury but it was one of those dreaded nights whereby you can't sleep to save your life. Was still awake after 04:00 and then had to get up around 8.
Was well and truly bunkered.
Some nice footage there though. Smooth rollin'.
