Scaleforum 2015
Some people like to know exhibition dates well in advance. You can find the dates for Scaleforum 2015 at

Re: Scaleforum 2015
It's good to give advance notice especially as the dates are moving away from the traditional Scaleforum weekend in 2015
Thank you Terry

What is the reason for the shift from the last weekend?

Very easy - the venue was not available to us. Being used for a sporting event of some sort. It was that weekend or nothing and I know which I would want. The negotiations for the 2015 date started last October but even then the venue was already booked.
In any case, Scaleforum has not always been on the last weekend in September. It usually is and has been so for the last 10 years or so, but not always before that.

Is 2016 likely to revert to the last weekend or will the previous week become the preferred weekend.

I suppose the traders are OK with the shift in date?

We have not yet opened discussions with the Stadium about 2016, but all things being equal, for 2016 it is likely that we will use the last weekend in September.

Well I don't know if they are OK or not. What I can say is that all those traders with e-mail addresses, which is the vast majority, have been informed of the 2015 dates and so far I have not had any concerns back.

Re: Scaleforum 2015
I have taken the liberty of moving the discussion which followed here, broadly about Scaleforum attendance and location, to its own thread. My intention is to reduce the amount of material those curious about Scaleforum 2015 feel obliged to read, and also to give the attendance and location topics their own space, so they can (potentially) run across several years.
There are also a few interesting ideas in that thread for modifications to Scaleforum. Some of those might be read in conjunction with "Changing Scaleforum's format", which followed a letter in Scalefour News from Ian Rice.

Re: Scaleforum 2015
I've updated the Scaleforum 2015 page with lots more details of what will be on show, especially the layouts, demonstrators and help desks.

There will also be some pictures of the layouts when I get a moment to send them to John, and we will also add the visiting Societies which should set at ease at least one member of this parish. The exhibition bus timetable will also come once the times of the trains have been checked out.

I do like the Coldfair Green pictures - they are views visitors won't see because the layout has changed since they were taken . Getting to those viewpoints now means taking the backscene off the layout.
If you'd like some more recent pictures, drop me a line. Or the Snooze editor has some for the Scaleforum print edition.

I did, and with thanks to Nigel, those are now up on the scaleforum page. Hit 'reload' if you think you're looking at eerily familiar photos instead of the new ones

Re: Scaleforum 2015
Just over 2 weeks to go until our "flagship" event so I hope everyone is looking forward to what, in my view, promises to be a great Scaleforum?
There looks to be a good blend of layouts, some still under development and others that are more established. This should enable visitors to see how things can be done, get ideas and inspiration and then see how established layouts are presented and operated at exhibitions for the enjoyment of visitors and exhibitors.
Hopefully this will encourage people to find out more and seek out the varied demonstrations and help desks that are available? Sharing and learning is a fantastic way of developing your modelling skills whatever level of modeller you perceive yourself to be.
Being inspired I hope you will then want to delve into the many "offerings" on display from the many specialist traders who support our great hobby.
As much as I enjoy the layouts, demonstrations and trade, for me, the best bit about Scaleforum is the people. This is a wonderful occasion to talk to fellow modellers, relax and share experiences with old and new friends and above all feel welcomed and leave inspired.
I look forward to seeing you there.

I'm looking forward to the show. I need some inspiration as my modelling has almost stopped completely. Do others go through troughs of malaise and inactivity?
Make Worcestershire great again.
Build a wall along the Herefordshire border and make them pay for it.

Yes. I do.
I've been told via the Didcot to Bury St Edmunds carrier pigeon, that a lengthy piece describing Coldfair Green is in the next Model Railway Journal, due out very shortly.

Yes, the latter. A lot. I find that RealLife(tm) intrudes rather into modelling time.
For example, this evening I'll be doing the software build on my stepson's new PC rather than painting the set of five LNWR ballast wagons that I sprayed last weekend.
It's only going to something like Railwells or Scaleforum or a whole weekend at Missenden that spurs me to make that extra effort to find time. That, and feeling guilty that I haven't posted anything on my blog for a month... I find that is a good benchmark, and an incentive to find ten minutes in a day to do this or that!
Cheers

It's a source of regret, but sometimes the motivation just isn't there when you've got home from a particularly bad day at work.
Pity there doesn't seem to be space for the test track this year - I was rather hoping to run 18.201 on it
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Is it? No mention of the test track in the advance publicity. I'll bring along 18.201 just in case....

Yes it will be there. David should know since it is being provided by courtesy of the Risborough and Distrct MRC.

No but it will be in the Scaleforum guide which will hopefully be with us fairly soon.
