Treasurer Chris and I would be very happy for a start. :D

We would cope with that number should we need to, just as RailEx copes with that number. It is still the same size of hall, with a similar layout of stands, and the parking and bus arrangements are also similar. We think that the bus arrangements will cope with the anticipated demand and we can only go on an estimate based on expected numbers.

Excellent! One way in which the numbers through the door would improve is if everyone brought along a friend or relative who othersise would not come. :)

The only type of low floor service bus likely to be able to access the main door of the stadium would be one fitted with a ferry lift, these vehicles are able at low speed (less than 10mph) to raise themselves up by a few inches to give the necessary ground clearance and sometimes then it can still scrape. Our bus company operates across th Torpoint ferry and at some states of the tide we get this problem. We have to operate double deckers all the time as it is, as the longer overhanging single deckers will get wedged even with the ferry lift raised. Please note all service buses should be wheelchair accessible now.

Cheers Phil.

The busy times for the Railex bus are times 10-11 am and around 3pm we had to pop on an extra trip as one trip was full with around 70 people on board. those trips around close are busy but not so bad as the return mid afternoon trips.

I hope the electrics are sorted for Scaleforum this year and does not pop the trips again. The are three main rings in the hall and care is needed to ensure they are equally loaded.

Crazy question here James when is the likely postage date for the guide? I ask as I would bring it with me if it hits Australia before I leave. Otherwise I will pick up one at Scalefourum. :thumb

Hi Doug,

The Scaleforum show guide will be printed as part of Scalefour News 189. I'm expecting this to be delivered to UK addresses on or around 1st September. I'm not sure how much longer it would be before copies start arriving in Australia though.

I've moved the above two posts from the thread on Scalefour North's retrospective to here as they are about Scalefour News #189 and Scaleforum [DC]

Vis-a-vis Doug's question:
If any member travelling to Scaleforum from distant lands would like their copy of Scalefour News #189 to be withheld from the mailing because they think it's likely to arrive at their home after they've left to travel to the UK, please let me know and I will bring their copy to Scaleforum for collection from me at the Society stand.

All the Best
Danny

Well Danny I will be able to tell you if It turns up in time. It sounds like there is a possibility that it will turn up before we leave. So there is a 10 day window..

Hi Doug, (and anyone else travelling a long way) the address files for September's Scalefour News will be sent to the printers on 19th August, so if you want your copy held back for collection at Scaleforum, or diverted to where you will be staying, please let me know by then or it will be too late.

All the Best

Danny, I'll be leaving Sydney on September 2nd, so perhaps might take advantage of your offer too - can I pick mine up at Scaleforum please?

Wasn't there a problem last year on Sunday when the Chiltern rail timetable was affected by week end engineering works and their resulting service bore little or no relationship with the bus timetable?

Yes there was and that of course is beyond our control. Due to lots of other things happening at the moment, including doing a demonstrtaion at the Midland RailEx at Butterly this weekend, I have not yet checked to see if there is any engineering work happening this year. Perhaps some kind person might like to do so. ;)

I've posted details of how the Bring and Buy will work this year. Be aware that our Treasurer has made a few tweaks, so there are now two forms to complete. Further details.

If you've downloaded the coversheet since my posting, but before the time of this update, it has been revised slightly, and you can re-download.

Geoff Brewin of Comet Models has informed me that unfortunately for personal reasons he is now unable to attend Scaleforum this year. The list of traders on the web site has been modified and we are just in time to change the guide so this is just for those who might be planning to buy from Geoff.

In spite of this we will still have a record number of traders at the show this year.

If anyone is staying over or visiting from further afield and wants a real ale pub both the Hop pole and Old Millwrights Arms have 10 and 9 pumps on, and serve good food till 9pm. The later also opens at 9am on Saturday and Sunday and do an excellent cooked breakfast for £5.50 so if you want a good breakfast before the show opens maybe this is an option for you.

No doubt I will be out on Friday and Saturday nights so if anyone wants to join me let me know, I can also recommend curry houses if that is to your liking.

Well thanks David, I'm not sure what I am up too on Saturday night yet. I will keep it in mind. I might need a drink after all the talking I expecting to do. :D

Having staggered back to my hotel on the Friday and Saturday nights after sampling the delights of Aylesbury's public houses in the company of David and his friends, I can advise anyone who is able to do so that they should take him up on his offer. Two very pleasant evenings added to my happy memories of Scaleforum 2013. Sorry I can't be there this year, but I am relying on Doug to have a drink on my behalf (and to do my Scaleforum shopping).

Having sampled the wares at the Old Millwrights Arms after Railex I can definitely recommend it (and the food was good too!)

Unforttunately another trade withdrawal from Scaleforum. MSS Models are now unable to come due to ill health.

We syill however have a very good line up of traders.

No, it's MMS (at least, that's who the link in the guide takes you too). If it had been MSS that would have been a radical (and very welcome) departure, never seen live steam on Gauge O track at Scaleforum before.
