Unfair trap

Postby Paul Townsend » Mon Sep 25, 2017 6:47 pm

I expect everybody knows this but as I didn't this note may help others to avoid falling into the trap:

A dead dcc loco would not respond to Sprog on programming track so chip changed ( Zimo MX621)....same result.
Further investigation showed both chips fine when connected to a different motor so deduced a duff motor.

I enquired of the expert at Coastal Dcc stall at Aylesbury this weekend and he said it is normal..."All decoders will do this.....needing the motor current passing through to enable the decoder to be recognised by a programmer."
