What's the relevance of OO track to the Scalefour Society Forum ?

( Or are DCC Concepts really going into P4 track ? )

I've just ordered some of the insulated rail joiners so it will be interesting to see what they're like. The postal costs were a bit frightening though, but I guess like all things, the Royal Mail has gone up a bit!

I have now received some of the insulated rail joiners for code 75 flat bottom rail, and they fit standard bullhead rail beautifully. So long as the rail ends are cleaned up nicely, especially the bottom, they slide on snugly and are very secure. They are a bit wide at the base but are easily sanded down so they are less obtrusive.

I'm pleased this post was at least useful to someone.

They look very similar in concept to the Peco SL-114 product, except that the Peco version has four bolt heads.

The DCC bullhead metal rail joiners have, as far as I know, 6 bolt heads, but I have used the new Peco bullhead joiners for all the track on the new layout. The DCC flat bottom joiners are similar to Peco flat bottom ones, but if they are as good as the plastic ones, should be very secure.

I felt the Peco bullhead joiners were better because they actually extend up into the web of the rail, and therefore hold the web and the head above more in line. rather than just holding the foot as the flat bottom ones do, but they actually don't grip the rail as tightly as flat bottom ones.

The great advantage of the DCC insulated joiners is that they are much more rigid than the Peco ones, and can be filed down to be less obtrusive.
