The circular type is easier to sharpen.

Which type is planned for the P4 tool?

I too have the circular one but struggled to mount it securely on my Myford ML10

Re: Who would want a form tool for re-profiling wheels?
In case it helps anyone considering this, I've included a bit on the use of a form tool in a post about my socially distanced challenge.
https://www.scalefour.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=6884#p80027
Any suggestions for improving on my approach would be more than welcome, especially as I am considering another couple of models that will need bespoke wheels.

I'd like one too please Terry. By the way, speaking as a novice lathe user, your "Railway Modelling Using Machine Tools" series in Scalefour News has been an immense help.

Thanks Andrew. It is always useful to get some feedback.
All the requests have been noted. At the moment the company doing the work are producing a prototype which will be tested to make sure it can produce a profile that conforms to the standard. Once that has been done we will produce a batch for purchase.

Put me down for one Terry, but also would it be possible to devise a tutorial so that 'self-taught' lathe users like me can use it properly?!!

It is planned to set up something like this once the tools are available. The order for the prototype was placed a few weeks back so I need to check progress.

Yes please Terry.
I reprofile my EM wheels in a decent sized lathe but would appreciate a quicker solution.
Regards and thanks.

This sounds like an excellent tool and I'd buy one.
Re profiling wheels would make a nice project as I'm a complete lathe novice.

Incidentally, do we have an early idea of what the cost of each tool might be?
That would be an ecumenical matter.

The order for the production batch was placed several weeks back and they are currently in production. No delivery date was given but I will ask about progress on Monday.

Terry, I thought I’d put my name down for one but It appears I didn’t. Am I too late?
Make Worcestershire great again.
Build a wall along the Herefordshire border and make them pay for it.

Not too late Andy. We have ordered a batch of 100 on the basis that there will probably only be one lot ordered so some will be kept for future stock.
