Revised edition Mike Sharman Wheel Specifications for the Modeller

Postby John McAleely » Mon May 15, 2017 10:02 pm

We now stock the recently published "Wheel Specifications for the Modeller", by Mike Sharman. Published by Stenlake Publishing, this is available online from them, or from our own eshop for £10.

From Scalefour News 202: "Mike Sharman’s ‘Wheel Specifications for the Modeller’ was long regarded as one of the vital weapons in the finescale modeller’s armoury. It listed just about every known locomotive of just about every known British railway company and set out the size and other details of their wheels in convenient tabular form. The snag is that it has been out of print for years and copies have been seen on eBay recently going for what can only be described as silly money.

But help is at hand because the Society has been working on an update. And it is not simply a reprint of Mike’s original; it has been updated, revised, and, in the few places where errors were detected in the original, corrected. The result, we hope, is a book which will prove as indispensable to a new generation of modellers as its predecessor did in the past."

Members who purchase via the members stores can get it online for the discounted price of £8. Note that members who buy via the eshop will be charged the £10 cover price - our eshop technology cannot change the price when a member is ordering.

Ordered one already :thumb
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Drat! Won't be able to sell my original for that infamous 'silly* money' after all, then.

* Guess it's a sign of today's entertainment fashions that we no longer call it 'Monopoly' (although I'm sure an on-line version must be available).

It's here, and it's quite slimline. Reduction in print size has contributed to that. Lots of photos of P4 engines dotted throughout.

One of the corrections that was missed was the one for the BR 3MT 2-6-2T.

Corrective list here
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Can someone explain why so many diesels and electrics are missing?

Probably because it was not possible to find someone with the necessary knowledge to provide the information. If anyone wants to do that, then the information could be added to the on-line version or published as an addendum.

When I get my old computer running again, I'll look up the list of common industrials too.
