Some of you may recall that I have previously arranged for the production of a limited number of GER kits by Jim McGeown of Connoisseur Models. I was very pleased to receive the message below, regarding some more re-releases from his range. I have no doubt that the quality of them will be just as high as the Y6 tram that I've built, and the Buckjumper that I'm halfway through...

"Special Limited Production of 4mm Scale/00 Gauge Loco Components from Connoisseur Models

Between about 1996 & 2006 I produced a range of 4mm scale products derived from my 7mm scale kits. For a number of reasons I then had to abandon the 4mm products to concentrate on 0 Gauge kit production.

Some of the 4mm tooling is still useable & I have had considerable encouragement from noted 4mm scale modellers to produce some limited production from this tooling.

I now have available LNER Class Y7, 0-4-0 tank loco, Price £40.00, LNER Class J79, 0-6-0 tank loco, Price £40.00 & LNER Class J50, 0-6-0 tank loco, Price £55.00.

The tooling lends itself to the production of about twelve of each loco type at a time & further batches would depend on the state of the tooling & interest. So if modellers want one get it when available to avoid disappointment.

Full details are available on my website, http://www.jimmcgeown.com/4mm%20Scale%2000%20Gauge.html

The locos are available direct & postage free from Connoisseur Models,
1 Newton Cottages, Nr Weobley, Herefordshire, HR4 8QX, Telephone 01544 318263.".

In my opinion, the kits are extremely reasonably priced and excellent models to build. Despite being "shot-down" artwork, they assemble with very few problems and I would certainly recommend them to anyone that was new to the world of building etched kits.

They also seem to be selling fast, so don't hang about!

They won't be available for long, ordered a J50 and made a request for the GER/LNER N7 to live again.

You'll be helped by the fact that SEF can supply castings, even if Jim's own moulds have had it.

Looks like the N7 will be next, Jim has indicated that if he can get 12 good sets of castings from the moulds he will do a batch of these.

I built his LSWR G6 some years ago. Lovely kit - everything fits. Relatively simple too.

I spoke to Jim at the Bristol 0 Gauge show yesterday regarding the likelihood of extending this exercise to cover a batch of LSWR G6's and possibly O2's. He says that he has already had a number of enquiries for the G6 and is prepared to look at it but it is all dependent on being able to produce the castings. He also has to take into account the potential level of demand so if anyone is interested it might pay to let him know.

Well that didn't take long, Jim has confirmed that the N7 kit is now available to order.

My order is on the way, they won't last long going by the short run of kits he produced a few months back.
