May I draw members attention to this poll, which has indeed, as the owners
claim, led to new models being produced by the trade.
It's at the following address
4mm Scale Poll:
<http://www.modelpolls.com/TheSixthAnnualMROLWishListPoll-4mmScale.aspx>
This year the poll is again being run on the MROL website just as it has for the
last five years. However, this year the poll is being run independently of
MREMag. The poll will be open for voting throughout the month of February.
I vote every year for 4mm scale 1925 to 1933 Collett gangwayed bow ended
standard stock and specify 'Hornby upgraded'. An inaccurate version of this
must-have (but don't have!) type has been downgraded to Hornby's 'RailRoader'
(i.e. toy) range. That range also omits the Third. We are talking C54, D94/5
and E127/8 and successors.
It's either that or ask fellow member Ian Harrison to make you one (see last newsletter photo - envy, envy).
If you just put in Collett under the 'coach' heading and search, the choices
come up automatically for you. But don't let me influence you!! Regards, Howard

poll to lobby for new products
Re: poll to lobby for new products
Given their blatant disregard for UK data protection (clearly its fine using CC not BCC in Australia and you can ignore requests to delete someone's email...) and dubious abilities at interpreting statistics i'd suggest people just stick to the rmweb/mremag proper one now its being done properly.
Re: poll to lobby for new products
Yes do that one too, but the problems, I see being reported everywhere, over this poll, have never happened to me, all the years I have been taking part. For instance I never received spam or any other issue surfaced. I write as I find. Regards, Howard
Re: poll to lobby for new products
Well I still got the email about the poll even though i've asked for my address to removed from their records a few times now..

The alternative is not to bother with polls, but simply to wait and see what the manufacturers produce.
If they don't come up with your particular favourite, you have several choices:
(1) Build the desired model from a kit or from scratch
(2) Adapt [i.e. 'model-bash'] another model if that is practicable
(3) Substitute a different locomotive or vehicle which could be used instead
(4) Do without that particular item altogether.
Having said that, I do agree that some decent early Collett stock would be very welcome. The diagrams Howard mentions would seem to be the most appropriate choice. You never know, Bachmann or Hornby may eventually oblige. In the meantime, there are lots of other models to build, so I am not losing any sleep over it.

Yes likewise here - And I do doubt the claims of the persons running this poll that it has influenced manufacturers in any significant degree whatsoever.

Manufacturers are in the business of making things that sell - it won't matter one jot what we think.

Tim,
It is easy to agree with your first phrase and difficult to agree with the second.
If we express our views through the use of such polls, the manufacturers can at least see what these views are. Yes they might decide they are not representative, or they might feel they have been influenced by campaign groups with a particular agenda/bias or maybe the manufacturer just does not think that what is concluded by the polls accords with what they think. The point is though, it has been said via the polls and the manufacturer can see it.
Surely it is an example of nothing ventured nothing gained?

'Nothing ventured'...etc).
Yes, I should have mentioned I voted for my 'upgraded Hornby' bow-ended stock to be in P4.
