I placed an order for 50 binders last week, of the same design to DT's order.

I only require 20 or so for myself so I will have plenty of spares. As my order was for less than DT's the pricing will be slightly different.

I will get in touch via PM to discuss price and payment.

I'm just starting out on my last one - where did the time go? (I know I should have bought more at the time).

Is there any interest in a repeat order (especially if David or Alastair coordinate it lol)?

I am already a binder and a half over on mine so would be happy to take about 5.

I suggest you get in touch with Alastairr to see if he has any left. If he hasn't, I'm more than happy to pass on all the relevant details as to how they can be obtained if anyone else is prepared to order some. If I remember correctly, minimum order is 50.

Well I am down to my last 2 (OK that's two years worth) but I would be interested in at least 5. I could do with 3 for the British Railway Journal, so probably 10 all told.

Thanks Keith for the PM.

I don't have sufficient spares in my collection to cover the renewed interest so I think it's best seeing if we could fulfil the minimum requirement for another print run of the binders. I should have the original correspondence with the book binders so will try and dig it out and make contact again. I could probably order another 5 or so for myself.

Shall we wait and see if anyone else requires any before working out numbers?

Looking at the obvious demand is this something it might be worth considering for stores to carry? If it were possible to buy one at a time when needed, a modest increase in price would be manageable? Just a thought

That is a good idea. I will send a message to the Society asking about that.

Meanwhile, current total stands at this:

Paulhb = 23 (very precise planning there!!)

73 in total.

I'll contact Modern Book Binders and ask for a quote based off an order for 80 and 100 binders.

It struck me a slightly poor timing as we should really co-ordinate this with Scaleforum or Scalefour North where no doubt the binders could be delivered in person to the majority saving the postage, but that's not always possible. Providing the company Modern Book Binders are still going (the last binder order was in 2012) and happy to help there was at least 2 months lead time on the binders I believe. I've sent them an email for a quote this morning.

You'll find this will grow and grow..... Now if the EMGS, and the 2mm Soc, and the S gauge Soc, and a Gauge 0 boys were all informed, not to mention the various online groups, someone could make a bit of money out of it! I suspect that if some extra were ordered for this society they'd fly off the stand at Scalefour North in April.

I'll pick this up as I've been watching the thread, and take some thoughts to Committee.

Any feedback may not be until after the Warley Show as several of us are busy there (look out for a surprise new Society product, amongst other things) but please carry on discussion on this thread in the meantime.

I'm up for some, anyone know how many would I need to bind a full set of MRJs?

As of now 252/12 = 21. Not a complete set as it does not cover future issues, also does not include the compendiums as their bindings make them difficult to fit in.

Or 26 binders...

I prefer to only fit ten issues in a binder as I find it gives more space to enable them to lie flat and be easily read. Yes, you need more binders but I find the convenience makes up for it. It's also easier on the workbench/desk as it's easier for them to stay at the page you've opened. In a different room in the house, there's nothing worse than a cookbook which won't lie open on the recipe you need when you have flour-covered hands!

Ah, that's when you need one of those recipe book stands! Could be useful on the workbench as well
