Just to let people know that my binders arrived yesterday, so I am/was one of the four on the original list.

As mentioned by me, I'll maintain a list of members who may want MRJ binders from a second order. Which will be ordered and managed by me, with thanks to Steve (RedDragon) for organising the first batch.

So far, I have...

- Paul Townsend 5
- Morgan Gilbert 5
- Neil Smith 2
- Steve Duckworth 5
- Keith Norgrove 3
- Nigel Newling 5
- Richard Duane 5
- Mark Davy 30
- Ian Wright - 15
- David Southan - 30
- Paul Segar - 28

Running total: 133 binders

So we have a minimum quantity for a second order. I'll leave the "order books" open for another week or so until Sunday evening to let people consider if they would like to join the order.

So one more final call to either post a reply here (which is most useful for transparency for others to participate) or PM/email to me if you'd prefer.

Best,
Paul

Due to circumstances I seemed to have missed out on the MRJ binder orders. Even though I sent a PM.

I will send a PM to Paul Willis. Interested in 30 binders.

Many thanks

Many thanks David. PM safely received, and I've added you to the running total above.

If work is quiet over the next day or two (for those who know me and may not have heard, I was "unretired" last year so no longer have weekdays for myself) I'll contact Modern Bookbinders and see where we stand.

best wishes,
Paul

Morning all,

As I hoped, I did have chance to speak with MBB on Thursday. So I can give you an update with a view to closing off the order.

The key thing is that for the quantity we want, the binders will be £5.70 each.

That's for the Cordex ones, with 12 cords, which I find hold 10 issues comfortably. If you want to see what some are like in practice, these photos show my current ones, which should be the same:

Delivery is quoted at 4 weeks, which is pretty reasonable.

So to move things forward, and not drag on, I'm going to close the Scalefour Society "order book" this weekend. If I get further volume, the price may come down a little more than that above. We'll see.

So if anyone would like to be added to this order, let me know by the end of Sunday (5 March 2023) as I'll look to speak with MBB at the start of next week. No money needed up-front, but please don't order then walk away...

Best,
Paul

Below is the near-final list of members who may want MRJ binders from a second order.

So far, I have...

- Paul Townsend 5
- Morgan Gilbert 5
- Neil Smith 2
- Steve Duckworth 5
- Keith Norgrove 3
- Nigel Newling 5
- Richard Duane 5
- Mark Davy 30
- Ian Wright - 15
- David Southan - 30
- Paul Segar - 28
- Martin Rees - 24
- Paul Bannerman - 3
- Brian Williams - 30

I'll leave the "order books" open until Sunday evening to let people consider if they would like to join the order.

No money will be needed until after delivery. That is expected to be around four weeks time, based on the conversation that I had with Modern Bookbinders last week. From that conversation, I expect the final price to be in the region of £5.70 per binder, although if I get further bulk discount, I'll pass that on.

Postage will be at cost - I usually use Evri (was Hermes) for postage as they are cheaper for parcels than Royal Mail, and there is a drop-off point five minutes walk away in the village. Collection/delivery over a pint for BS4 members, and others near :D

So one more final call to either post a reply here (which is most useful for transparency for others to participate) or PM/email to me if you'd prefer.

Best,
Paul

And I've just emailed Modern Bookbinders with the order.

Once I know expected delivery dates, I'll let you know. In the meantime, thanks for helping get this together.

Right, order confirmation received.

Delivery to me, for onward distribution, should be in about four weeks.

The per binder cost looks at coming out at £5.60 each, based on the quote.

More news in a few weeks time I hope.

Best wishes,
Paul

Re: MRJ Binders - update

Postby Paul Willis » Wed Apr 05, 2023 8:46 pm

Hello all,

After the weeks of silence that the binder makers suggested, an email arrived today.

The order of 200 MRJ binders is now complete, and will be delivered to me on Wednesday next week. As with set out in the quote, the invoice gives a unit cost of £5.60 each.

Once they arrive, and I can assess the best way of packing and posting the varying quantities, I'll ask people for address details and payment.

Until next week...
Paul

In the words of that old song ... "... when will we see you again... " at the BS4 Area Group meetings? :-)
No problem paying "cash up front" if you cannot wait until then. Binders when you are ready.
Thanks for doing this for us Paul.

MRJ Binders - arrived!

Postby Paul Willis » Wed Apr 12, 2023 8:24 pm

Evening all,

As promised by Modern Bookbinders, during today three large boxes turned up at my home:

IMG_8167.JPG

The binders are exactly as I expected them to be, so I'm very pleased with the result. They are an excellent match to the previous batches.

Over the next couple of days, I'll be working out how best to package the various quantities. To each of you who have ordered, I'll then drop you an email asking for an address to send them to, and to sort out payment details.

Best wishes,
Paul
