Correct Height for Mark 2 Coaches

Postby John Fitton » Wed Jan 09, 2013 7:57 pm

I am fitting the new Brassmasters CCUs to my fleet of Airfix, Lima, and Hornby Mk 2 coaches, and I need to get the height right this time. Rather than use the buffer height as the gauge, I would like to use a better datum such as the roof or the footboards. Does anyone have any dimensions to help me on my way please?

Thanks in advance,

John Fitton

Hi John

I dont have my mk2 book handy but the rainstrip on a mk1 is 10' 4 above the rail and looking at pictures mk1s and mk2s appear to match.

Thanks Jim. BTW, the CCu's you designed are really very good. A very nice idea to have the brakes as a one-piece etching with the side frames, and to have two simple pins replacing the torsion bar, pure genius. I am a great fan of "parts-count reduction, and to have the main parts of the bogie being formed of just three components is very good thinking, and Brassmasters have implemented the idea very well.

Best wishes,

John Fitton.
