Buffers for SR utility vans/CCTs?

Postby chris_mccarthy » Wed Dec 28, 2011 1:01 pm

I have a batch of various Parkside (and even a Dapol!) 4-wheel SR utility vans/CCTs to convert or make up soon. But does anyone know if correct buffers are available and from where - preferable spung but even if not?

I have Googled and looked at various forums (but RMWeb is down at present), all to no avail.

Any advice or links would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Chris McCarthy

The Southern Railways Group did sell them, but the buffers do not appear on their latest lists.

David Franks does some unsprung buffers for the range of Southern 4 wheel vans. AFAIK the Southern Railways Group sprung buffers are no longer available.

The Larnarkshire ones can be drilled out for springing though it is a tough pewter material.

There have been quite a few threads on rmweb about the difficulties in getting anything out of the Phoenix range in the last couple of years and I think the older source of these buffers will have gone the same way.

Thanks, chaps, for the info. Dave Franks' buffers have now been ordered!
