Saw this earlier, I wonder if it can be converted to P4

Re: Kernow's GWR Railmotor
Dare I say that it is stunning.
The evolution of RTR from 1990 until now has been massive. Back then you were lucky to get a new livery on old tooling. I know everything changed with Hornby moving to Chinese production with the rebuilt Merchant Navy but from 2002 (?) until now we have various minor details changed between models in the current run. The on going development of finer and finer RTR with practically limited run models. When this is added to the new Peco OO and EM track... I can understand people looking at P4 and saying its not for them or even being tempted back to the narrower gauges! Or not tempted to P4... I can remember having conversations with some modellers here about OO, one had a fantastic model of Brent, Another was a P4 modeller who passed away about 4 years ago, he looked at going back to OO... as things are so good.
The RTR conversions we see on here really shows what is possible using the RTR as basis and with a little work which shows that P4 still has a place.

Steve,
You need to speak to Jeremy about that.

Very tasty!
Tell you what, you buy one, convert it and tell us how you did it!

Not the type that worked on the Nidd Valley Light Railway, alas, so as you were.

Ha! Ha! nice try Tim, I still have the old Mallard kit awaiting attention, talking to Jeremy at Scaleforum about his motor unit might bring it nearer the top of the list..... although I believe it does have a dimensional innacuracy

Is that Rich Pedder you're referring to? It looks like he's given up on P4....
That would be an ecumenical matter.

No it was "Peter England" who you met in 2001
Definitely one of the local modellers who was great fun and missed by all who knew him and his off colour sense of humour.

Steve, I think that it wouldn't be easy, if at all. I was in contact with someone who is involved in their new product development recently on another matter and when asked about the conversion possibility it was thought to be unlikely as it was difficult enough for them get the '00' rods etc to fit in the space!

But isn't that the general argument that some OO models use anyway?

Re: Kernow's GWR Railmotor
I had a good look at this model at Warley and had a chat with one of Kernow’s technical advisers.
Never say never, but it looks really tight. I’d look at one of Jeremy’s motor bogies first. Wish I’d taken a photo.
Pity, as the level of printing is astonishing. For example, there’s a makers plate on the front bogie frame which is printed in 3 colours and is readable through a magnifying glass.
All of which is irrelevant as I’ve sold the layout I originally ordered one for, so have now cancelled.
