Hi everyone
I have sitting on my bench a Hornby R268 "HST" Mk4 DVT running number 82204, Swallow Intercity livery. In the real world this has been InterCity, and more recently GNER livery, now I have no idea.
My question is as follows. I have a few items that I have offered to sell, if I can, for a friend who is no longer capable of doing that himself , due to health problems. One of them is the above mentioned DVT. The problem is that the removable fitment in the nose where the lights are has gone walkabout, as in the photo. This probably makes it worthless, but perhaps I could fabricate something with a little care. Does any one have one of these, and if so could someone take a few digital pictures for me, showing the details and perhaps the structure of the missing strip. I would be very grateful for any help in this matter.
best regards
Philip
PS. It is not available as a spare part! Only complete body shells at £6 plus postage, makes a a nonsense of trying to sell it! I do not mind a bit of a plasticard challenge....

Have you tried emailing the ever helpful Simon Kohler at Hornby explaining the problem? Sorry, I do not have his email address.

Hi Andy
no but I will try. I was politely informed by Hornby customer service that parts were only available via the specialist spare parts dealers.
They say there is no such item on its own....
Is Simon someone who has a soft spot for the Scalefour society?
thanks for the tip anyway.

Thanks to everyone who has read this thread.
The problem is now solved. East Kent Models who specialise in Hornby spares have agreed to send me the moulding (it is part L6845), and waive their minimum five pound charge. I send a bubble bag and some stamps! Very kind of them.
so the problem is solved.
regards

Good plug there for East Kent, always worth a look at when they are at shows.
I buy their undecorated bodies as test pieces to practice spray painting on, a Hornby 8F for a couple of quid is an excellent investment.
