seeking 6'3 and 5'6 con rods

Postby jon price » Mon Oct 02, 2023 10:16 am

Does anyone know if there is a souce for 6'3 and 5'6 con rod etches? I would even be prepared to buy a whole chassis etch if necessary. I know Bill Bedford has an etch for variable length rods, but if I could get them with the length already set I would be more confident.

Lanarkshire models do 5'6''+5'6''+6'3''coupling rods for a 8F that you may be able to cobble something out of.

Gibson do variable length rods too. I can think of people who would say using variable rods so they exactly fit the chassis is a better way to go, but it does depend a bit on what the chassis bits your starting with are like, and what if any suspension your planning to put in.

A good point, Will. John Brighton always used to adjust the rods to match the chassis after fitting hornblocks and I could never get the jigging method to work for me so always ended up adjusting rod centres anyway. It just depends on what's going on with the frames - my latest method relies on accurate rod centres.
