Hornby Compound

Postby Hardwicke » Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:53 am

Does anyone have a Hornby Compound to hand? I need to know the chassis/body length for an etching. Is the Hornby one accurate for the 7'0" Midland ones up to 1034?
Thanks

The etch I'm thinking of is 124mm. Are the Hornby splashers in the right place?

I don't have one, but the Wizard/Comet instructions confirm that the wheelbase is wrong - so who knows what else is.

Including the NRM one don't Bachmann do both MR & LMS versions?

Compounds have so many variations, deep or thin frames, straight or raised running plate, short or long wheelbase, 7'0" or 6'9", original, saturated Deeley, superheated, and then tenders....

Well, at least you now know the Hornby model is incorrect in respect of the driving wheelbase. I wonder if anyone has actually tried to correct it, just to show it can be done?
That would be an ecumenical matter.
