Re: Industrial steam
"Interesting" - what a masterful understatement, Jim!!
A superbly conceived and executed piece of filming, editing and presentation - the use of Streetscene to show how that really is a 'Lost World' is sobering... great camera-work.
In total contrast, that 1969 summer, Dad and I were sampling the NCB outpost at Kilmersdon, Somerset, both underground and surface trip to the incline top - a few dim slides only, of a tiny system compared to the Astley Green complex.
Superb, and a real eye opener. Many thanks, and I shall be looking out the other episodes.
Cheers,
Steve

Re: Industrial steam
Interesting to see “Austerities” at work. They had quite a bark to their exhaust when toiling upgrade. Makes me see them in a new light.
Thanks Jim.
