I remember building a Finney M7 a long time ago and used the EM spacers at the back end to help getting it around curves! Must have been a long time since I am now adapting the Hornby models...

Very slight improvement in running Dave, thanks for the suggestion, after putting in another washer so there is almost no end float in gearbox. Forward is now no more noisy than reverse. By the way the front axle is fixed.
