Drive for an N2
Can anyone suggest a gearbox/motor combination for an N2 please? I picked one up at S4N last year or so. Chassis is lovely - Bradwell I think but no coupling rods, brakes, motor or gears. I've not got access to a drawing at the moment.

The original models all have 30 or 40:1 High Level Roadrunner+ box with Mashima 1624 driving the centre axle. Seems you may have to find a substitute for the motor - see other thread.

Thanks,
I'm sure there are suitable alternatives.

OK I have a drive now but the brake gear is missing. Rods are available from Gibson but does anyone do suitable brakes?

I have a set of rods but no other spares, I'm afraid. If the builder followed the instructions with the hornblocks, these rods should be an exact match for the wheelbase, give or take a thou' or 2.

Hi Wizard sell the Mainly Trains etch - MT180: LNER Loco Brake Shoes & Hangers – drivers below 6′ diameter
Knowing little about LNER practice I can't say if any of these are exactly right but it contains brake shoes for classes:
Row 1 left: GER F5, J17, N7 etc.
Row 1 right: J38, J50, J72 etc.
Row 2: K3
Row 3: J39, K1 etc.
Row 4: GCR A5, J10, J11 etc.
so hopefully there is something not too far out on it.

Be very wary of the ex-Mainly Trains etches. Some of them come out oversize for 4mm scale and some of those wouldn't disgrace a 7mm scale model.
That would be an ecumenical matter.
