Hi All
According to the drawing from the GERS the J20 had wheels which were 4'11", 15 spoke, pin in line with spoke.
I'm looking for options for wheels
I'm thinking Mr Gibson's closest would be a 4'7 1/2", 15 spoke, pin in line described as Midland/LMS, ok if I can live with them being .8mm under size
Ultrascale doesn't seem to do anything suitable.
Can anyone come up with a closer option or do I just claim the tyres are worn?

The Exactoscale range of driving wheels offers this size but you would need to obtain the assembly tool which is not exactly cheap. Have a look at the C&L Finescale website under 4mm rolling stock components.

Hi David,
Colin McCallum is looking into something related to exactly this question. I've given him a prod to stick something on the Forum aimed in your direction.
It may also be of interest to anyone else thinking of modelling LNER/GER 0-6-0 tender locomotives...
Cheers

Thanks Flymo
It was very unclear from C&L's website whether the wheels are actually available and just how big a mortgage you need to take out to buy them. I've always got on with Gibson's in the past..

..and you may find these posts useful if you consider using Exactoscale wheels

and thinking about it, perhaps reading the last two paragraph of this preceding post first might make what I doing a little clearer

Thanks Will
I'm afraid that those posts just confirmed my believe that the exactoscale offering isn't for me. £20 an axle, not being able to use a GW wheel press and the possibility of trashing them completely are enough to put me off.
I think I'd rather live with .8mm undersized wheels.

I hope I didn't give the impression it was that easy to trash them, I've trashed a good few Gibson wheels in my time too.

Not at all. I just thought that if someone of your experience was able to destroy an axle then a ham-fisted idiot like me was bound to do it!

A bit late in the day, but Gibson supplied 16 spoke LSWR 4ft 11in wheels in his J15 kits.
