Worthy of note, I think.

Bigger, if not better, audience ?
Incidentally, today I saw a Hornby King next to a Castle from the same firm, and until now I had never realised just how much bigger a King actually is- Never having seen one up close and personal for real. Castles, or rather Nunney Castle (?) used to come on charters down to Cornwall regular

To some extent, maybe.

One thing a King isn't short of is bulk!
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Re: Kings
Amazing stuff. But, ignorant question, why put the motor in the tender of such an enormous loco. The attention to detail elsewhere sort of jars with the intrusion of the drive linkage doesn't it?

Re: Kings
The best place to put the motor on a tender loco - is the tender. Better weight distribution is only one of the benefits.
I don't think the builder is a member of this forum (although he is a S4 member), as he is here tonight I'll try and remember to point this thread out to him.

Isn't it nice that we are just able to see examples of wonderful modelling like this?
Regardless of where it is posted, unless your version of the Interweb has an allergy to RMWeb.

Re: Kings
The drive shaft between the loco and tender is 2mm diameter once the key has been dressed back. I may reduce it slightly more but not for aesthetic reasons. The location under the footplate is very discrete and pretty well impossible to see from normal viewing angles.

Re: Kings
I'm interested in this.Tender drives seem to me to be in the minority (v High Level suggestion sheet). I can see you could load up the loco with weight for traction, but how does the linkage affect going round curves?
