wheels for 8K, O4, ROD

Postby rocketdau » Mon Aug 01, 2011 9:23 pm

I am planning on building a couple of ROD 2-8-0s, can anyone please advise the correct driving wheel details 4'8" 14 spoke but nowhere can I ascertain the throw. Also which, if any, make of wheels in P4 is appropriate ? I think the Exactoscale for the O2 are probably close but would welcome help

According to the Sharman book, drivers were pin between, 26" stroke ie 13" throw.

Sharman lists a 26" stroke, therefore a 13" throw if my maths is correct...

If you can live with a half-inch of tyre wear, Alan Gibson does a 4'7" 14 spoke, crankpin between the spokes, 13" throw wheel... Code G4855L if my eyesight hasn't failed me in reading the catalogue.

Cylinder were 26inch on both 02 and 04 so presumably they have the same throw. The alternative to the Exactoscale wheel is the Gibson Code 4855L which I used see this.

You will need to use the Gibson pony truck and tender wheels as Exatoscale don't do the required size. Gibson wheels order Codes are 4842 3’6” 10 spoke bogie, and 4851 4’3” 12 spoke Tender.

It is, you will find that picture and various other bits about the 04 scattered through my Loco Suspension, fitting CSBs thread.
