Lancashire & Yorkshire railway Highflyer drawing

Postby simonmoore » Mon Feb 21, 2011 5:34 pm

I don't suppose anyone has a good scale drawing of one of the L&Y highflyer atlantic's do they?? I am looking into the possibility of having a etch produced for this loco which is a prototype i really would like to have in my collection. Millholme are the only company to ever produce a 4mm model of this early prototype but they have long since gone the way of the dodo. Just though i would ask before going down other channels.

Regards,

Simon.

Railway Modeller, Feb '85 has a drawing, I could scan if you want.
Cheers,

Mark.

Simon,

a GA would be a much better guide for someone designing an etched kit. Model drawings, unless very detailed, aren't usually sufficient (the GER Society drawings are a good example of those that do provide sufficient information). Whilke the RM drawing will provide a guide, I wouldn't expect it to be sufficiently detailed.

I suggest that you contact the L&Y Society, who are probably best placed to help.

p.s. No further news on the B16 yet.

The NRM has a collection of L&Y loco drawings though I don't have the list of them to check if the one you want is on there. Possibly worth checking with Search Engine.

Frame drawings and other metal cutting drawings are great for etching as you can just transpose the numbers directly into the CAD package.
