There is nothing like choosing a simple prototype for a first conversion, mine is a Bachmann 9F.
Unfortunately, although supposedly new from the dealer, there was no service sheet and apart from the screw under the pony truck, nothing else seems allow the rear of the body to separate from the chassis.
Anyone better versed in such things?

Most of the recent Bachmann locos have a screw or two under the cab somewhere, you may have to remove the tender coupling first to find it. Or it may be hiding under the keeper plate.
I have never had my hands on a 9F, however, so that's about as far as my suggestions can go.

I would email Bachmann's service department, they were very helpful recently when I wanted some spare footplate castings for a N to replace some deformed ones.
