Robin Gay has successfully used the buffers between loco and tender for transferring the power to the loco on his Rolvenden layout.

One thing that a reactively long modelling career has taught me is that there always seems to be somebody who can makes a method work, no matter how unlikely it seems to me. Whether if this says more about me than the other guy is a nice open question.

Used to be some sockets, but I can't see them in the current catalogue.

If you buy them as "servo extension cables" plenty on ebay or from Hobby King, then they come with the wires already attached which helps greatly.
