split axles and compensation
i have read 2 articles on the use of split axles both using sprung hornblocks has anyone used split axles with compensation beams ?

Yes. Only problem is insulating the beam. I did it using a pair of beams on the rear two axles, and a pivot mounted on the spacer for the third axle.

Yes. It works if you use twin beams, one up against each frame.
Here's one I made earlier. I cut out the middle bit of the rod between the beams to keep the frames isolated.

I've done it with a London Road Models kit for a G5 0-4-4T. All wheels conduct. There are twin beams between the two driving axles and also between the axles in the bogey. The bogie simply pivots on the rear stretcher and it is one of the best running locos in my stud. I used Branchlines split axles and Bill Bedford shorting frets.
If I were to make another I'd do it in precisely the same manner.
