PTFE silicon grease

Postby Andy W » Fri Apr 25, 2014 6:20 pm

I'm building a High Level gearbox which I've initially lubricated using EE's silicone grease. I've run the unit in and am wondering whether using a spray can of Maplin's silicon grease PTFE would be a good way of cleaning up/coating the gears with lube? I presume this is a safe way to proceed - or am I asking for trouble? Has anyone used this kind of stuff on a gearbox?
Make Worcestershire great again.
Build a wall along the Herefordshire border and make them pay for it.

I have only ever used Pronatur (with PTFE) grease on a High level 'box, after testing. The instructions say that no grease is really required but that a little will do no harm. I once used some white silicone grease on some gears and it solidified a bit so I had to wash it all off. Since then I have only ever used Pronatur on any gears.
