1366 chassis

Postby steve howe » Tue Oct 29, 2013 6:25 pm

At Taunton Railex this weekend, a visitor told me of a kit for the GWR 1366 / 1363 chassis, unfortunately I didn't make a note of the manufacturer's details as I was operating solo for the weekend.

I have kits to build for both the saddle tank and pannier versions of this GWR 'dock' tank some of which I believe worked in Cornwall. Can anyone shed any light as to who makes this chassis kit? I do recall the gent said it was '....... Developments' but exhibition lag has fogged any further recall!

Cheers

CSP/Agenoria apparently have a complete kit for the 1366 class in the pipeline for Jan-Feb 2014 - see the final entry in the 'Upcoming kits' panel at http://cspmodels.com/index.php. Not sure that helps much if you only want a chassis kit.

Ask. I did and bought just the chassis a couple of years ago.

Hi Steve it was me!
It is indeed CSP and Roger Slade is the proprietor.
He sold me a chassis kit which I used for my 1368. I wrote this up in the Snooze a while ago. Can't remember which issue though.
Good luck
Andrew

Peter K did a 1361 kit some time ago, the chassis for which was obtainable separately. His range passed to Kemilway, but I don't know if they are still trading as their website seems to be non-responsive. I have one of these chassis kits, but can't tell you much about it as it's in the 'one day' box; I can hopefully find it if you want to know more about it.

So far as Cornwall is concerned, all of the 1361s were allocated there at one time or another, apart from 1365, which was allocated to Plymouth almost to the end of its working life. The 1366s seem to have spent most of their lives at Swindon Works or Weymouth, with none officially allocated to a Cornish shed until three went to Wadebridge in the 1960s. Still, 1361 found its way to Weymouth for a short visit in 1960, and 1371 spent time in south Wales in the 1930s, so....

Thanks for that Noel, I've tried Kemilway's website a few times and just get an "error 509 bandwidth exceeded" notice. If anyone from Kemilway reads this thread perhaps they could advise us on the situation. They were certainly good kits, as were the Peter K ones - when you could get 'em!

There's an unbuilt one on ebay at the moment.

Great if you want the etches only. Getting castings could be a bit of a challenge, though. May be better to wait for the CSP kit coming out next year.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

I was at the Weymouth show on Saturday for a couple of hours, mostly talking to people, I barely looked at layouts but saw just enough to be able to convince my grandson he should take his two boys along today, they really enjoyed watching trains so that makes up for me finding it a bit boring watching stuff on roundy, roundy layouts. I did like the radio controlled live steam O gauge though even if that was only going round and round ;)

However from my talking I got the impression that CSP are serious about getting some new kits produced in the new year, including the Weymouth tank engine.
