Seuthe ultra-adhesive oil

Postby Bigfish » Thu Feb 28, 2013 12:00 pm

I'm just about to start building my High Level Jinty chassis. The most excellent instructions recommend lubricating metal-on-metal contact areas with a "tiny amount of Seuthe ultra-adhesive oil", and on the gears "a little plastics-compatible grease will do no harm".
I'm having trouble finding a source for Seuthe ultra-adhesive oil. Chris Gibbon says anything which doesn't attack plastic will do, but of course I'd like to do the thing properly if I can.
So may I (yet again) ask for your wise counsel:
(1) can anyone point me to a supplier for Seuthe ultra-adhesive oil?
(2) or, recommend an equivalent?
(3) and, any advice on plastics-compatible grease?
In the meantime I'm just off to saw up a sheet of 6mm ply to build my P4 plank, at long last!
Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan,

Try Labelle 102 instead - should last years

For grease I have used Pronatur engineering grease (with added PTFE) for years now and always use it on High Level 'boxes and re-lubricating the gears on RTR engines after re - gauging. I got it from Any Mullins at Branchlines a very long time ago, but don't know if Branchlines still stock it.

Gentlemen, many thanks indeed for your help. I found Labelle #102 at http://www.ontracks.co.uk/index.php?page=search_results&string=labelle+#102 and Pronatur Tri-Flow Grease (“packed with millions of tiny PTFE balls") at http://www.sloughrc.com/default.asp?WPG=SRCM_HomePage1&itemid=T-TRF03
Cheers

Hi Alan,

Forgot that it was Ontracks that I purchased my bottle two years ago - superb oil that 'sticks' to the gears and will not fly out even at full speed!

I use it with Portescap and High Level gearboxes.

Young Derek at Eileen's stocks silicon grease. Small pots, but should last a few years.
Make Worcestershire great again.
Build a wall along the Herefordshire border and make them pay for it.
