Postby HighlandRailwayman » Fri Jan 12, 2024 10:10 pm

Do any of you lovely people know if/where/when the bill bedford springing units might become available again? I know wizard stocked them but all showing OOS and obviously we have lost derek at Eileens who was my main go to for this kind of stuff. Ive done a google search and drawn a blank so didnt know if anyone else had any ideas/gems of where to go to?
Hoping someone knows,

Drop Julian at the stores a message perhaps? as I seem to remember he had a load of BB etches at Scaleforum.

I think you mean Jeremy at S4 Stores.

The Stores website needs updating, although I believe that is someone else's remit.

Your best bet is to drop Jeremy in the Stores an email.

He has access to the Bill Bedford drawings and will, because of the size of the range, be ordering etches on a “to order” basis initially.

Hopefully in due course we may be able to hold stock of some of the more popular items but this is subject to review and Jeremy’s workload in due course.

The first of the Bill Bedford springing units/W-iron etches are now available to order from the Society Stores:

BWF080 BR Open W-irons
BWF081 BR Plate W-irons
BWF082 BR Air Braked W-irons
BWF083 Pedestal bearings W-irons

All are etch only and priced at £8.50 each. They all include enough parts to spring six wheelsets.

This is great news! The little chassis kits are great too.
Thanks for doing this, and to Bill for allowing us access!

Or indeed all of them?
That would be an ecumenical matter.

I would value the 1907 RCH wagon-axleguards.

Are they available to non-members?

The agreement signed between the 'Scalefour Society' and 'Mousa Models' is that the Scalefour Society will sell the items concerned only to Society members, including any persons in temporary membership by virtue of attendance at Society events.

Hi Steve,

Is the limitation on sales to members (and temps) because others (such as Wizard Models) will also be supplying the BB etches?

I would have thought that the Trade Officer has enough to do supplying the members without servicing the general public…

Quite, Peter. In any event, any non-member can easily avail himself of these by stumping up a very reasonable £24 to become a member. :)

Indeed, or even come to a show where the Stores are. They then become one of those 'temporary members' and can buy for themselves. There are plenty of ways around this if one applies one's thinking cap.

I meant is the limitation because Bill is supplying others direct such as Wizard (who have them on their website but as "Out of Stock"). Never thought for a minute that we'd want to provide them beyond the membership.
