Possible solution to desoldering parts from kits?

Postby Jonathan Wells » Wed Mar 13, 2013 5:12 pm

I just watched this clip on YouTube and Dave Jones reviews an alloy which converts a high melt solder to a low melting alloy which stays molten for longer allowing an electronic chip to be removed more easily. I know this video is about electronics but I thought maybe this alloy may help with the removal of soldered on brass parts without melting off adjacent parts? I do have misgivings about the effects it may have on the remaining solder and the iron but for what it is worth here it is.
