I have a couple of other classes but still too scared to chop the plastic loco bogies yet...
Ordsall Road (BR(E)), Forge Mill Sidings (BR(M)), Kirkcliffe Coking Plant (BR(E)), Swanage (BR (S)) and Heaby (LMS/MR). Acquired Thorneywood (GNR). Still trying to "Keep the Balance".

Just go steady Michael, follow the instructions, which are excellent, and you should get there. I felt the same when I did it and it was much easier than I expected. Good luck.

Don't forget that Bachmann's spares service is very good, and reasonably priced!

Dave,
What arrangement did you use for electrical pick up? I have used the so-called American method, with one side of wheels shorted. However, there is precious little space behind the wheels to arrange a shorting wire, and I want to convert my four kits to phosphor bronze collection.

I used little copper clad pads glue on the side of the inner chassis with contact wire to the wheels it tight but works well
