I have a dozen or more horses to paint and would appreciate suggestions on paints, colours and techniques. I am inclined towards using acrylics and using different shades of undercoat, but how to get a realistic, convincing result is something that eludes me.
A few years ago, when I wasn't painting horses (typical!) I was shown a technique using oil paint which involved dabbing it on and leaving it to almost dry before removing the surplus paint with tissue and cotton buds (no thinner) which gave a pleasant glossy sheen. Unfortunately, I don't recall the detail.
Any tips, pointers, suggestions will be welcome. I would like to harvest the wealth of experience out there!

Re: Paint your horse
Evening David,
During the lockdown, I painted a few 28mm Napoleonic figures and used Games Workshop paints and techniques effectively when I tackled the horses.

All the best,
