So when is clean...clean?

Having been painting/spraying my own models for a number of years a thought struck me - before I attack the next victim, which is an engine and not a coach. Getting rid of all the nasties on the surface is of course required. But, does the brass (that's the medium it's built from) need to be shinny, or just free of all impurities? Or does one imply the other?

What are your thoughts and experiences?

Mike

Mike, Not shiny, not even one colour, but definitely free from grease and clean. That's worked for me. BTW I've recently used Tamiya grey primer and that works very well - as long as your top coat is enamel.
