Has anybody any experience of the spray varnish in the title?
All aerosols now cost between £8-10 for courier shipment and on top of the cost of the varnish that seems a little exorbitant.
These are available at Hobbycraft.
Or how about the Humbrol acrylic varnishes.

Re: Winsor and Newton Artists Satin Varnish Clear
John, I use Winsor and Newton Artists varnishes quite often but mainly for the protection of paintings..........I'm not sure how it differs from other varnishes but it is designed to be removed with white spirit in order to clean or restore paintings.
I don't know how it would stand up to being frequently handled although I have used it (matt variety) on Manston Brewery to take off the shine that even some matt paints leave........also useful on static grass.

Rob,
Thanks - the number of times I start again when painting it would be nice to have something that was easily removable, layer by layer, but I guess that isn't going to happen.
On my Y7 repaint I used Halfords acrylic red undercoat and it gave rather a nice result, then satin black on top etc.
