midland railway crimson lake

Hello all, My name is Adrian Gilliland and i've started to build a P4 layout at home this year having given up on a oo effort, not enough detail or reliability for my liking. This is my first serious attempt at railway modeling having spent the last 25 or so years military model making and figure painting. I've decided to model the Midland Railway in the Peak District in around 1920, thing's are progressing nicely but i've hit a problem and need some assistance. I'm currently building a Midland 1F half cab (an old MPD kit bought off ebay) which has gone together very well but now I'm ready to paint it and cannot seem to get the correct shade of crimson paint I've got some from the Phoenix range but this seems to be quite purple so any help or comments regarding suitable paint would be gratefully received.

A 1F would have been painted in plain black in 1920.
