Oxfordshire / West Berks Group Meeting, Pendon, Tues 13th June

Postby ianpenberth » Sat Jun 10, 2023 9:18 am

Good morning all,

We'll be meeting at The Pendon Museum, High Street, Long Wittenham, OX14 4QD, on Tuesday 13th June from 19:30 onwards.

We ask for a contribution of £4 per head to cover the cost of the room, including teas and coffees. Other light refreshments are available to purchase.

All welcome at the meeting, whether local or just passing through. Feel free to bring along something you have built or are working on.

Regards, Ian

Yeah, well, you get the gist :) At least I got the subject line right this time. Edited initial post to correct date.

Do what I do, copy and paste contents that say "on the above date" so all I need to change is the title.

Our June meeting...

Five of us this time making it a slightly more select gathering.

Rob brought a box of 7mm wagons, mainly to illustrate weathering, a CCT in particular whose dowdiness is down purely to top coats of Humbrol spray matt varnish. He'd also got the family involved, with both son and son-in-law contributing to the finishes, importing techniques from military modelling.

Steve described continuing progress on the historic part-finished model of GW No. 36 which he acquired from Rob a few months back, using the get-togethers at RailEx and Crewe to arrange for components from Chris Gibbon, Colin Seymour and Jeremy Suter.

Robin showed photos of progress on the baseboards for his Hawkhurst layout.

Tim brought along an Accurascale Siphon G for general admiration. Handholds not drilled through, wheels, couplings and corridor connections would be the focus of EM or P4 conversion. He also showed a rather nice GW ballast wagon built from a Martin Needham etch, dia. P14 I think. Finally he presented a building: the office block to one side of the goods shed at High Wycombe. Ground floor Brunel ornate, upper floor WWII utility brick.

Thanks to Tim for being Responsible Adult for Pendon on this occasion.
