Selkirk Tree leaves

Postby steve howe » Tue Mar 29, 2016 12:33 pm

Guys,

I recently came across this outfit which makes realistic scale leaves. The product seems to be made from finely chopped dyed paper:

They are in the US (or Canada possibly), I wonder if anyone has any experience of them? the pictures I have seen look very promising.

Didsbury Alberta, Canada as it happens. The site would appear to be in it's early stages as there is no phone number or postal code for the address. I also note they can't process orders until April 26th, 2016 which adds to the idea that it's early days for this company. By coincidence I seem to share a surname with the owner :? .

Cheers,

David

Surely if they are for the US and Canadian market they will be HO and therefore under scale for P4.

Steve, the products look cheap enough and may be worth an experiment with. No trees on Woodville but some hedges and overgrowth, may well try it sometime as flock is definitely over scale.

I guess Messrs Duffy & Price are not gardeners! leaves come in many sizes (and many shades of green)

Looks to be similar chopped paper stuff sold by John Lloyd's Green Scene.

They appear to be out of stock at the moment. I have tried it and a reasonable finish can be made but I find it a bit large and 'clumpy'. I tried chopping it up in the coffee grinder without success. I found a better result can be produced with their conventional chopped foam/rubber based material.

It may be of interest that the Realistic Model Services range of scenic materials are being re-introduced here:
