Tring cutting bridge 112 - lasercut

Postby Tim Horn » Fri May 24, 2013 5:17 pm

Hi all,

I've started another lasercut bridge project, this time for my own layout (eventually!). I've used photos for measurements via the actual brickwork so far and it appears to be ok. I've just taken a few snaps to see how things are progressing and all looks good. I do hope to get the arch artwork done sometime next week to finish this project off.

Please ignore the track work as this is just my test track ;)

Cheers
Tim

Tim,

Have you tried cutting the back of the mdf as well as the front so that you can roll it to form the arches?

Pretty awful picture, i made a mess of my photographs on my visit to Bill, and they are not repeatable now, but you will find some better ones in MRJ. This is Bill Richmond's take on that bridge. (Assuming it is the same bridge, google shows 3 bridges over the cutting, Bill only had one, even his massive shed had its limits!)

Excellent work Tim - inspiring me to go a similar route!

Does anyone know the current status of Bill's Layout BTW?

Cheers,

Howard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the suggestion, I've tried this approach before, and it didn't work on this occasion so I've opted for the simple approach. Some of the lower brick arch will be covered with chalk and debris which has fallen from the bank so I think it will look fine in the end.

Keith, that's the one :) A fine layout this was too, I've only ever seen it in MRJ and apart from those articles, I know little about it. Thanks for the compliments Howard, its well worth the effort to get drawing and building.

Cheers
Tim

Tim

Your ability with this technology has really born fruit, wonderful. Any time you'd like to share the cutting files...

Mike
