SOUTHERN RAILWAY IRON FENCING

Postby Richard Harper » Tue Nov 30, 2010 3:10 pm

Can anyone help me please to identify a source of etched Southern Railway iron fencing (spiked)? I saw some on St Merryn but inexplicably failed to ask the question.

Thank you for your reply. Having looked through the Ratio product list I find no representation of the spiked iron fencing - I find two types of pre-cast concrete fencing and a number of wooden types. Richard H

Hi Richard

Ratio do a spiked fence which is listed as GWR, is that what you saw? Scale link do an etched version as well but to my mind its too fine

Thank you too Jim. I will take a look at the GWR spiked fence next time an opportunity arises. I will also buy the book!

Hi Richard

Just picked this question up so forgive me for not responding earlier.

The railings gracing St Merryn are indeed Ratio GW spear fence mouldings, with the "spears" cut off - very carefully!

I hope you enjoy the book. I am sure you will find many other helpful tips?

Regards

Hi Steve

The same method is good for modern railings too

Thank you Steve (SLAG) and Jim once again - also for the photo. Have you gone into print on how to produce such a realistic road surface and colour? If so, where can I read about it please?

Hi Richard

I have posted info on this on the DEMU and MBF forums. As you need to be a member of both societies to view them I have posted it to this forum as well for you.
