May Meeting

Marshlink Area Group Meeting 18th May 2023

9 members met at the usual venue.

Ben Mason brought along his beautiful rake of LCDR cattle wagons now painted in SECR livery. These have been built over the past 2 months from 3D printed bodies (courtesy of James Walters) with Masokits sprung underframes.
Steve Carter gave a brief update on progress with the arrangement for selling 4mm Dingham couplings through the society.
Brian Smith brought along some samples of groundcover materials he had seen advertised in the Military modelling press. They are manufactured by MBR, Martin Welberg and Lars op’t Hof and distributed in the UK by the ‘Model Tree Company”. The samples were most impressive and a variation from the usual offerings in the railway arena.
James Walters has been experimenting with building cardboard coaches for his Bexhill west layout. It is hoped he can bring some examples to the next meeting.
James also produced the sample board for the groups test track hub with a laser engraved track plan from Templot. This involves a scissors crossover on a curve and various roads off feeding supplementary modules for each group member to build. Bob Cummings volunteered to build the scissors crossing pointwork.
Bob brought along an old Hornby Britannia he has been converting to P4. This has involved some work on his lathe to produce new bearings.
The usual thanks to Steve Carter for refreshments and to Ben Mason for some chocolate chip cookies.

May I ask if the 3D printed LCDR Cattle wagons are available to buy ? I'd love some if so.

Thanks.

Alan.
