October 2021 meeting - its good to be back

Many of our Group took part in the Kent AG open day as part of the Scaleforum Multi-Venue event last month and we had a very enjoyable day. Thank you to the Kent Group and the never-ending flow of cakes!

Last night six members of our Group assembled in Rye for a catch-up evening.
Officially this was our second “in-person” meeting in the calendar since the lifting of restrictions allowed us to met again in our normal venue but only a few were able to attend the September meeting.

It was very good evening and we learnt and explored a variety and, properly most importantly, laughed and shared companionship again.

Some of us had attended the Uckfield exhibition the previous weekend and we had a natter about how good it was to be back at shows. Portsmouth next month for me.

Bob shared his rapid progress with is new S&DR layout inspired by Bath Green Park. The impressive station shed roof has taken him a year to build and we are looking forward to seeing the actual layout soon.

Discussions also went into protecting modelling assets and leaving legacies. Maybe not something that some may find easy to think about but important never the less.

Ben and Greg were dissecting the components of a CSP kit for a Manning Wardle loco and raving about the new coreless motors from Chris Gibbon at High Level. They look really good.

We also discussed a programme going forward and future meetings will see us continuing the turnout building workshop we started before the pandemic, looking at producing track plans with Templot, programming DCC chips using a SPROG and, of course, we will continue to have fun.

We meet in Rye on the third Thursday evening between 7pm and 10pm. If you are interested in our Group then please email me at mfag@scalefour.org
