I haven't had a lot of modelling time recently, but have been faffing with a few couple of cab options. I've come to the conclusion - as Dave suggested - that thinning the cab and window edges makes a massive difference and will be enough. The front window I'll leave as is but glase from the outside, which will leave the need for an extra frame to go outside that glasing, but should be doable.

I don't think this photo really does it justice - difficult to tell the relief on black very easily, but shows the near side thinned and the far side not. I've since done both sides, so am in the process of fettling the cab/boiler/footplate interaction.

In amongst I'm trying to feed some 0.1mm wire into a 0.3mm bore tube, which sounds like plenty of room but hasn't gone in yet! Into the 0.5mm tube was a breeze.I can sort the atomiser assembly etc in parallel with boiler bands and fittings though.

It probably needs lubrication, I would puff some powdered lock graphite on to my thumb and forefinger and then pull the 0,1mm ø wire between them to transfer the graphite on to the wire.

.....or there might just be a burr on the end of wire or inside tube!

I'm sure Dave B is right. I'm using quite a bit of 0.5 mm O/D x 0.3 mm bore tube for the atomiser unit for the Scot at the moment and have found that whether it is cut by piercing saw or by rolling under a scalpel blade, it is necessary to de-burr the cut end by filing flat and using the tip of a pointed triangular scraper or 0.3 mm drill bit to clear the bore. Doing that, I am able to get 0.31 mm brass wire (also de-burred) into the bore without any problem, so your 0.1 mm should fly in.
Dave.

Thanks for the ideas - I was actually a step ahead of where I thought I was, the 0.3mm bore tube was fine, it was the 0.3/0.1mm tube which wasnt.

The smallest drill bits I have are 0.2mm, so deburring with that and running a pencil along the wire seems to have done the trick.

Wow, Peter. I've never seen tube that fine. I thought the 0.5/0.3 mm was pushing it a bit. Where did you get it from?
Dave.

Hi Dave, you can buy it loose - but I got it as part of a 0.3/0.5/0.7/0.9 pack which is from Albion alloys. I can't remember my source but the first google hit is here:
https://www.hmhobbies.co.uk/slide-fit-b ... lloys.html

or here for a 3 pack of just the 0.3/0.1mm:
https://www.themodelcentre.com/mbt03-al ... i-d-3-pack

They also do a set of the even numbers too down to 0.4/0.2mm, which I don't have but can see could have uses:

Lovely work on your atomiser!

Eileen's list it too - £2.10 per foot length.
